GTI Projects

At the 9th meeting of the GTI Consultative Commission held in November 2007 in Vladivostok, Russia, the GTI member countries decided to deepen their cooperation in the specific sectors of economy. A number of concrete projects in the key sectors of economy were identified as “GTI Projects” for which further elaboration, resource mobilization and partnership building would be implemented in the following years. GTI projects shall promote the economic development and cooperation in the Greater Tumen Region and the Northeast Asia and would complement bilateral negotiations on regional cooperation. The Tumen Secretariat was given the task of promoting these projects and to identify potential investors and donors for their funding.

At the 10th meeting of the GTI Consultative Commission held in March 2009 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, the progress of the “GTI Projects” was actively reviewed by the participant governments. They recognized that the promotion of these projects has been effectively undertaken with strong support from the GTI member countries and UNDP. The participant governments agreed on concrete steps for the continuing promotion and branding of these projects to attract more foreign investment. A strong partnership and a cooperative network between GTI governments, international organizations and the private sector were recognized as important conditions for the successful development of the trans-border projects.
