The 9th GTI Research Institutions Network (RIN) Working-Level Meeting was held on May 17-18, 2024, at Liaoning University of International Business and Economics in Dalian, China, back-to-back with the Conference on “Industry and Port Cooperation”. During the meeting, GTI Members deliver speeches on the economic development of the Greater Tumen Region. Russian Foreign Trade Academy (RFTA) emphasized the potential for enhanced trade and economic cooperation between China and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), highlighting integration benefits and possible scenarios for future development. The Institute for Strategic Studies, National Security Council of Mongolia (ISS), outlined Mongolia's New Recovery Policy, focusing on border port development and economic independence. Liaoning University of International Business and Economics (LUIBE) discussed the Dalian-Hunchun cruise project and the impact of visa-free entry for foreign tour groups on regional economic development. The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) proposed collaborative research for GTI’s transition to an international organization.
At the conference on “Industry and Port Cooperation”, participants from research institutes, universities, and governments explored the critical role of port and industrial collaboration in driving regional economic growth post-pandemic. Key discussions focused on Dalian's strategic advantages, the development of a regional cruise travel route, and the integration of tourism and trade within the Greater Tumen Region. The conference emphasized the importance of digitalization, infrastructure modernization, and pragmatic economic cooperation to enhance connectivity and promote sustainable development in Northeast Asia.
