The 12th GTI NEA Local Cooperation Committee Meeting, the 10th LCC Logistics Sub-Committee Meeting, the 5th Marine Cooperation Sub-Committee Meeting in Shenyang

The 12th Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI) Northeast Asia (NEA) Local Cooperation Committee (LCC) Meeting, the10th LCC Logistics Sub-Committee (LSC) Meeting and the 5th Marine Cooperation Sub-Committee (MCSC) Meeting were held on 26-27 September 2024 in Shenyang, Liaoning, People’s Republic of China. The meeting was hosted by the People's Government of Liaoning Province of China and organized by the GTI Secretariat, with the participation of senior officials from members of LCC, LSC, and MCSC, including Primorsky Territory of Russia; Heilongjiang Province, Jilin Province, Liaoning Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Tangshan City from China; Dornod Province and Sukhbaatar Province from Mongolia; Busan Metropolitan City from Republic of Korea and representatives from the private sector and research institutions. Participants from Japan, Russia and International Organizations such as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), attended this event virtually.

 

At the opening session of the meeting, Mr. Zheng Yi, Vice Governor of Liaoning Provincial Government of China; Mr. Chuluunbor Ganzorig, Adviser to the Governor on Foreign Relations and Ports, Sukhbaatar Province of Mongolia; Ms. Damdinsuren Damdintsoo, Head of the Monitoring and internal at the Governor’s office of the province, Dornod Province of Mongolia; Mr. Alexey Kolmogorov, Deputy Head, Agency of International Cooperation of Primorsky Krai, Russia; Ms. Kim Jiyoung, Deputy Director, Transportation Innovation Bureau, Government of Busan Metropolitan City of Republic of Korea and Mr. Lee Lawrence Hoomyung, Director of the GTI Secretariat, delivered the opening remarks. More than 100 participants attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed the progress of LCC cooperation and discussed new project proposals and ideas proposed by LCC members and observers.

 

LCC members presented their perspectives on local cooperation in NEA, particularly current challenges and possible solutions, and provided recommendations on cooperation activities and projects in priority areas, addressing how to accelerate the economic recovery through regional supply chain cooperation.

 

During the LSC Meeting, LSC members were invited to share progress in the field of logistics since the last LSC meeting and make recommendations on logistics cooperation in Northeast Asia since 2023. This year's LSC Meeting also witnessed the Signing Ceremony of the Cooperation Mechanism for the Ports in the Three Northeastern Provinces and One Autonomous Region of China, which marked a significant step forward, paving the way for improving the clearance capacity of ports and promoting regional logistics cooperation in Northeast Asia.

 

In the Marine Cooperation Sub-Committee meeting, MCSC members were invited to share new cooperation proposals on how to promote marine exchange and cooperation among GTI local governments including the GTI RIN proposal on NEA international cruise cooperation. 

 

This year’s LCC events concluded with a strong commitment to enhancing regional collaboration among stakeholders in Northeast Asia, emphasizing the importance of accelerating the economic recovery through joint projects on regional logistics and marine cooperation. As various provinces and cities of GTI LCC continue to strengthen ties across borders, the collective efforts of GTI LCC members are poised to create a more integrated and resilient Northeast Asia.
