The 13th GTI Transport Board meeting was organized by the GTI Secretariat and Ministry of Road and Transport of Mongolia on November 13, 2024, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
During the meeting the GTI Secretariat provided update on the progress in GTI transport sector since the previous transport board meeting (12 December 2023). The implemented projects and activities include co-organization of the ESCAP Subregional capacity building workshop “Enhancing energy efficiency of the freight transport sector in Asia and the Pacific” (11 January 2024, Seoul, Republic of Korea), 2nd Joint Conference GTI – CCTT (International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation) "Growth Opportunities for Transport Logistics and Supply Chains in Northeast Asia and Beyond“ (February 28, 2024, Moscow, Russia), signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between GTI Secretariat and Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center (GSTIKC).
Later, the Board reviewed the latest progress updates from the member states with regards to the realization of the GTI Reginal Transport Strategy as well as their national transport strategies focused on the NEA region and discussed proposals for future cooperation projects and initiatives. GTI Transport Board members reaffirmed their common vision for cooperation in the transport sector and approved the Work Plan 2024-2025.
The Transport Board meeting was preceded by the 4th ESCAP-GTI Seminar on Transport Issues in NEA “Promoting cross-border information exchange for efficient railway transport and transit in East and North-East Asia”.
Participants from the Ministry of Transport of China, Ministry of Road and Transport of Mongolia, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea, Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, GTI Transport Expert Group, Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center (GSTIKC), Korea Railroad Research Institute, Korea Railroad Corporation, ESCAP ENEA Office and the GTI Secretariat attended the 13th GTI Transport Board meeting.
The chairmanship of the GTI Transport Board was handed over to the Republic of Korea.
